Biography

Attorney Laura Melissa Loya was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised on the Mexico-United States border. Her upbringing has provided her with a two-sided understanding and appreciation of the intricacies and complexities that arise within this unique cross-cultural environment, which also gave her a deep understanding of the legal challenges faced by Latinos in the US. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor's degree in Economics. Thereafter, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she was a member of the moot court travel team and served as president of the Latino Law Student Association.

During her time in law school, Attorney Loya undertook internships with the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, El Paso’s Public Defender’s Office, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Attorney Loya also completed a judicial internship in the Dallas Family Courts; driven by a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of families facing difficult legal situations, this experience affirmed her decision to pursue family law.
