David Lopez

David Lopez is a distinguished legal professional with a robust background in family law. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Texas Tech University and subsequently obtained his law degree from the same institution in 1993. With a solid educational foundation, he embarked on a remarkable career journey.

David's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own legal practice shortly after completing his education. For 13 years, he successfully managed and grew his practice, gaining invaluable experience and establishing himself as a respected figure in the legal community.

In 2006, David Lopez transitioned into the role of District Court Judge for the 256th Court, a position he held for an impressive 15 years. During his tenure on the bench, he presided over numerous cases, showcasing his commitment to upholding justice and the law.

Following his distinguished service as a judge, David took on a pivotal role as the Chief Legal Officer at Manuel Diaz Law Firm. In this capacity, he oversaw attorneys and paralegals in the family and civil departments, bringing his wealth of experience to guide the legal team.

In 2023, David Lopez once again embraced entrepreneurship by founding Lopez Lawyers, his own legal firm. With a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the law, and a commitment to excellence, David continues to contribute significantly to the legal field, offering expert legal services and guidance to clients in need.

Melissa Loya

After growing up in Mexico, Melissa made a courageous decision to emigrate to the United States for college. In 2016, she enrolled at University of Texas at El Paso, where she immersed herself in legal studies and began to cultivate the skills that would later distinguish her as a rising legal star.

Melissa's commitment to the pursuit of justice led her to pursue a legal education at Ohio State's prestigious law school in 2023. Her academic journey laid the foundation for a promising career in law, providing her with the knowledge and expertise necessary to navigate the complexities of the legal landscape.

In her pursuit of practical experience, Melissa joined various family law firms after completing law school. This early professional experience served as a crucible for honing her attorney skills. Melissa demonstrated exceptional aptitude and quickly became known for her dedication to her clients and her ability to handle challenging cases.

In mid-2023, Melissa took her talents to Lopez Lawyers a move that would define the trajectory of her career. Specializing in family law, Melissa's role at the firm allowed her to channel her passion for justice into advocating for individuals facing familial challenges. Her commitment to her clients and the intricacies of family law set her apart, earning her a reputation as a talented, intelligent, and caring advocate.

Cynthia Maldonado

Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, Cynthia Maldonado brings over two decades of legal experience and a deep commitment to public service and family law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Spanish, from Baylor University before obtaining her Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 2000.

Her legal career began early, handling her first divorce case as a third-year law student. During law school, she also interned with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, where she assisted victims of violence in obtaining protective orders. Following graduation, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in both Cameron County and Bexar County, focusing her practice on domestic violence and child abuse cases.

In Cameron County, she co-authored a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant that successfully secured funding for the county's first dedicated domestic violence unit, reflecting her longstanding advocacy for vulnerable individuals and families. Most recently, she practiced at the Law Office of Bryan Fagan, continuing her work in family law matters.

Cynthia Maldonado has now brought her extensive experience to Lopez Lawyers, where she will lead the firm's San Antonio office, expanding its family law practice and continuing her commitment to serving families throughout South Texas.
